A new civil defense shelter was completed at JTK Power’s Vörå factory in early 2026. The shelter serves the company’s own premises and provides a concrete example of JTK Power’s civil defense equipment in use. The modern modular civil defense shelter features doors, hatches, wall sleeves and ventilation units manufactured by JTK Power.

The new shelter is an EVAshelters modular civil defense shelter by Rakennusbetoni- ja Elementti Oy. JTK Power and Rakennusbetoni- ja elementti, based in Hollola, cooperate in a partnership where JTK Power supplies casting parts and ventilation units for EVAshelters.

– It is great to see our products now as part of our own everyday environment. Over the years, we have supplied a significant number of civil defense shelter doors, hatches, wall sleeves and ventilation units across Finland, but this project made the whole concept especially tangible for us, say Jenni-Sofia Viitala-Talso and Linda Björklund, Sales and Product Managers for JTK Power’s civil defense equipment.

The opening of the space was celebrated on 8 April.

Civil defense equipment developed and manufactured in Finland 

JTK Power’s expertise in manufacturing casting parts for civil defense shelters is based on more than six decades of experience. Civil defense shelter doors have been part of the company’s production and expertise for many years.

JTK Power manufactures its products from start to finish at its own factory in Vörå. Design, production and sales all operate under the same roof, which means the entire manufacturing process remains in the company’s own hands. Domestic manufacturing reduces dependence on long supply chains and foreign production, supporting delivery reliability even in demanding situations.

– When all the expertise is close at hand, we can react quickly. This is reflected both in the quality of the products and in how smoothly we can serve customers with different needs, Viitala and Björklund say.

In civil defense equipment, responsibility is reflected in solutions that are long-lasting, serviceable, and compliant with regulations. Delivery reliability and fast response times play a major role in civil defense equipment. At JTK Power, these are supported by long experience, in-house production and close cooperation between different functions.

– We have very fast delivery times – for standard products and stock items, the delivery time can be just a couple of days at best. We can deliver products smoothly anywhere. According to Konsti, the cooperation over the years has shown that JTK Power has a strong will to get things done properly.

The new shelter also serves as a meeting room

JTK Power wanted to invest in the versatility of its own civil defense shelter. In peacetime, the modern and bright shelter is used, among other things, as a meeting room.

The solution clearly demonstrates how a civil defense shelter can serve everyday needs when it is not being used in an actual crisis. For JTK Power, the new space is both a practical addition to its own premises and a concrete example of the products the company manufactures for its customers every day.

– Civil defense equipment is a long-standing and important area for us. Our new civil defense shelter is a good reminder of the type of overall solution our products become part of and how important they are to the functionality of the shelter, Viitala and Björklund say.
